VAPORIZING SUPER BUGS
On Monday, December 12th, 2011

Along our never-ceasing quest to rid all environments of pathogens and super bugs, we wanted to talk about a new process for decontaminating hospital spaces that has been receiving a lot of attention lately.  Hydrogen peroxide vapor technology is a method for decontaminating all items within a room and the room itself using a “dry gas.”

The benefits of hydrogen peroxide vapor decontamination are:

  • A space can be decontaminated within a matter of hours – we like efficiency
  • The process is highly cost effective when compared with other methods
  • It kills super bugs such as MRSA, VRE and C. difficile – yeah!
  • No toxic residuals are present after the decontamination cycle
  • The machine that delivers the vapor is mobile and can be easily moved from space to space.

Important things to know:

  • The room to be decontaminated must be vacated and sealed. The decontamination process is deadly to humans if they were to remain present in the room during decontamination.
  • Decontamination processes do not replace regular cleaning protocols.  In other words, hydrogen peroxide vapor decontamination does not come with magical self-scrubbing elves.

Check out the YouTube video link below to see how it works! The company that created the video, Bioquell, manufactures hydrogen peroxide vapor decontamination units.
